Hsiao Chin was born in Shanghai in 1935, son of the director and founder of the National Conservatory of Music. He studied at the Taipei Academy of Fine Arts and in 1959 curated his first exhibition in Italy, in Florence.
He arrived in Milan at the beginning of the sixties, immediately establishing himself within the city's artistic panorama, also thanks to the friendship and sharing of experiences with great names such as Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni, and to the foundation of the "Punto" movement.
