Lucio Del Pezzo

Lucio Del Pezzo, born in Naples in December 1933, is an Italian artist, painter and sculptor. Among the founders of 58 Group in Naples, with a neo-surrealist and neo-dadaist approach, Del Pezzo also collaborated in the magazine South Document. His works of the 1958-1960 period proposed assemblies of various objects, including fragments of popular prints and images. From 1962 Del Pezzo developed a repertoire of his typical "square" or "sculptures", formed by geometric monochrome panels with carved shelves or concavities supporting regular geometric objects (pins, wooden eggs, bowls, mannequins, etc.). In its object-paintings and in his assemblages is always evident a playful attitude, which characterizes his production.
